A small historical reference Minsk - the capital of the Republic of Belarus, the center of the Minsk district and Minsk region, located in the center of the republic on the Svisloch River. Date of establishment and the first written mention - 1067. Earlier names - Men'sk, Menesk, Mensk. In 1496 - 1499 the city received Magdeburg Law.
